What You’ll Need
-Fabric of your choice — we used a lace fabric with a scalloped edge
-Elastic
-Basic sewing supplies (sewing machine, matching thread, scissors, pins, measuring tape)
Instructions
1. Measure your wrist comfortably and double this measurement.
2. Mark this length along the width of the scalloped edge of your fabric. Then determine your desired depth and draw a long rectangle. This will form the ruffle section that extends beyond the sleeve.
3. From a separate piece of fabric, cut a rectangle for the cuff. Measure your wrist circumference and add a few centimetres for seam allowance. Decide on your preferred cuff length, which can be adjusted to your taste.
4. Gather the unfinished edge of the ruffle piece by increasing the thread tension and selecting a long stitch length. Distribute the gathers evenly along the entire edge.
5. Create a casing along the long edge of the cuff piece for the elastic.
6. Place the cuff piece and the ruffle piece right sides together, aligning the unfinished edges, and stitch them together.
7. Thread the elastic through the casing, ensuring both ends remain accessible.
8. Fold the cuff lengthwise and stitch the remaining unfinished edges together, including the elastic.
9. Turn the cuff right side out.
